World Women’s Day Fundraiser 2024

World Women’s Day Fundraiser 2024

On the occasion of World Women's Day 2024, it is a matter close to our hearts to focus on the stories and concerns of women. As Team PURELEI, together with you, we not only want to raise awareness, but also actively contribute to supporting women. Therefore, in celebration of International Women's Day, we are launching the EmpowHER Necklace and donating100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this necklace to the Hawaiʻi State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

What is the Hawaiʻi State Coalition Against Domestic Violence?

The Hawaiʻi State Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a non-profit organization based in Hawaii. It is a coalition of programs and shelters across the state that work to combat domestic violence. The Coalition was founded in 1984 with the mission to address the impact of domestic violence on individuals, families and communities, whether social, political or economic. In addition, they actively address issues such as racism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia and other systems of oppression, particularly in relation to gender-based violence in Hawaiʻi.

Why the Hawaiʻi State Coalition Against Domestic Violence?

PURELEI is inspired by Hawaii. The beautiful islands, the people and the Aloha way of life are our greatest source of inspiration, so we want to give something back. With the support of Alisa's contacts in Hawaii, we quickly realized that we wanted to use the net proceeds from the EmpowHER chain to support victims of domestic violence in Hawaii.

Here is some background information:

  • 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in Hawai'i have experienced sexual violence, physical violence and/or stalking by a partner in their lifetime. (CDC, 2017)
  • In the report "Domestic Violence in Numbers 2021 for Hawai'i", 950 adults and children were cared for in a single day (NNEDV, 2022).

When you wear the EmpowHER necklace, you are not only making a statement for female empowerment, but also supporting victims of domestic violence.

Fundraising campaign for women's shelters in Germany

Since domestic violence is a huge problem worldwide, we as Team PURELEI would like to actively support women in our home country of Germany. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office's 2022 situation report, a total of 240,547 people in Germany were victims of domestic violence, with women making up the majority of those affected at 71.1%.

For this reason, on International Women's Day on March 8, 2024, we support women's shelters and associations in Germany by having voluntary Team PURELEI employees in Mannheim pack urgently needed donations in kind, which are also donated by the team and their friends and families, and send them to the following organizations:

Horizont e.V. Munich
The non-profit association HORIZONT has been caring for mothers and children without a permanent address as well as socially disadvantaged families for more than 25 years. IThe goal is for the families in care to have the opportunity to make a new start and participate in society.

Social Service of Catholic Women e.V.
The Social Service of Catholic Women e.V. Berlin is a women's association that is dedicated to helping children, young people, women and families in special situations as well as the participation of people with disabilities in the community.

Frauenhaus Wuppertal e.V.
The focus of the work of the association Women Helping Women e.V. is on combating structural and male violence against women and their children. This is not just about improving or resolving individual emergencies, but also about changing the social situation of women and children.

How can you help?

If you also want to support women in emergency situations, there are various options. You can donate directly via the organizations' linked websites or search for organizations in your area that you can help with monetary or material donations.

Thank you for supporting women together with PURELEI and setting an example for how important it is for women to stand up for each other and help each other.
